SHOPIFY TRENDS FOR 2021

Key Takeaways

Shopify has released its first official townhall for partners this past Tuesday, February 2nd to bring about new updates and new trends for 2021. We’re excited to discover new possible ways to make building your eCommerce sites better and stronger for this new year so why not share all of the wonderful things to look forward to, when you’ll be possibly partnering with a Shopify Agency like us.

1. There is now more visibility in your Home Admin

If you’re a merchant on Shopify already, did you know that you can now access an online store speed report in your Shopify Home admin section to see how your store is performing and understand what factors may be negatively impacting its speed? This autonomous speed report includes app install and uninstall events, so you can know that the apps being used aren’t slowing you down. If you require further breakdowns of the site speed of your site, our team also offers site speed reports and CRO (conversion rate optimization) if you’d like a more granular look at every aspect of your site, including your images and content.

2. Shop Pay will have payment installments

As the global economy has shifted during these uncertain times. Shopify understands that most consumer’s cash flow has changed and some might feel in a pinch when it comes to online shopping. Well, merchants and consumers alike can now rest easy knowing that Shopify will be releasing a “pay in installments of X amount” later on this year in the US. They’ve confirmed that Shop Pay Installments allow buyers to pay for purchases in four equal payments over time, with no interest or fees. Merchants will receive the full purchase amount upfront, and Shopify will collect the remaining installment payments, meaning there’s no risk to merchants. This flexible payment option will allow buyers to stretch out their payments, making purchases more convenient. This, in turn, will help merchants increase cart sizes and overall sales. If you’re based in the US and would like to introduce that new feature to your clients, please click here and you’ll join the waitlist for when this does launch.

3. The Shopify POS will be soon upgraded

As the effects of COVID-19 are pushing commerce forward, more and more merchants from all areas of expertise are now using the Shopify POS to abide by social distancing recommendations. With features like Contactless Checkout, an additional contactless payment method for those who don’t have access to those options. Soon, buyers will be able to simply scan a QR code to pay for in-store purchases via their phone, using Shopify’s online checkout. This new option will help support physical distancing in stores, even when the tap option isn’t available. Right now, Shopify POS already supported tap and contactless payment options like Google Pay and Apple Pay through the Tap & Chip card readers. This new option will further support the Local Delivery and Curbside pickup options offered earlier in 2020 to account for our new current normal.

Rest assured that as Shopify keeps growing and releasing new features that might help boost your eCommerce business to new heights, we’ll keep you in the know and update you so you can make the best decisions for your brand and storefront.
